I have another puzzle or a need for information. Peter Hertzog possibly had 3 brothers and 1 sister. Howard Dale Hartough mentions them in his book on the Hartough family, and Mary May Hartsough has some information in her records. There was Handrick/Hendrick/Henry Hertzog/Hartough, Zachariah Hertzog/Hartsough/Hartsuff, Heronymus Hertzog and a sister that may have been named Mary or Marya and her last name may have been Herzogin, which I understand is the feminine form of the name. I have found no information on Mary and have that Heronymus married a Anna Margaritha (again?) Winther and they had one son whose name was Jacob (is this the same family of Hartsocks in Delaware?).

Handrick was born about 1715 and had five children and many descendants who remained in New Jersey for the most part, but some later moved to Ohio and Illinois. He married Anna Marie Kleckenar and they had five children,I believe: Catherine - baptized on 29 Apr 1744 at the Dutch Reformed Church, Harlingen, New Jersey and married William Minor.They had 4 children;
Anna Maria/Mary - baptized on 16 Sep1750 at the Dutch Reformed Church, Harlingen, New Jersey and married Christopher Prost/Preuss. They lived in Lake County, New York near the Finger Lakes;
Elizabeth - born around 1751 and married Thomas Pearce. They had a daughter named Mary and remained in New Jersey until her death before 20 Dec 1814;
Frederick - born around 1752 and married Caterine Girty around 1779. They had a daughter, Elizabeth; and
Anglebert/Engleburt/August - born 13 Jul 1753 in New Jersey and died on 15 Dec 1812. He married Anne Gulick on 6 Mar 1779. They had 12 children and some of their descendants migrated to Ohio and Illinois.

Another brother of Peter was Zachariah - born in the early 1700s. Had a son named Zachariah who was born around 1730 in Rahway, New Jersey. Zachariah, Jr.'s wife's first name was Sylvia. He died in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. His son, Zachariah III, was born in Wilkes-Barre and then moved to around Ithaca, Tompkins County, New York. His grandson, Lewis Hartsough, was a well-known Methodist Minister, who died in 1919. Zachariah Hartsough, Jr. had another son name Henry, who was born in 1772 and was the grandfather of Gen. George Lucas Hartsuff of Civil War fame, who was born around Tyre, Seneca County, New York in 1830 and when he was young to around Port Huron, Michigan, with his parents, Henry Jim and Rachael Herzog/Hartsough/Hartsuff. Other members of this family moved to Indiana and probably other points west. Zachariah and Sylvia Hartsough had 4 other children also: Mary, Peter, Lewis and Alsey.

So when we are speaking of migrations of the Herzog family we need toconsider these branches also.
