The bapt of Charlotte Hartshorn occurred in Arnold Notts 7 Jul 1844 dau of William & Elizabeth. Their marriage is not found as yet
I will continue what is a slightly complicated explanation. We are looking for a William b.c1824 There is such a William, as follows.
William Hartshorn bapt 15 May 1825 son of William and Elizabeth in Arnold. If he is the father of Charlotte then he would have been 19 or 20 yrs old at the birth. (Which means he married c1843 to an Elizabeth).
HERE IS A TWIST. William's father was also named William his mothers name was Sarah.
BUT William Snr married a second time to Elizabeth? and started a second family, and was fathering children into the 1840s.
The UPSHOT of this is that either of the Williams could be the father of Charlotte.
To try and clarify the situation, if we had a look at the 1851 census returns for Arnold, we may find both the Williams, what we are looking for is the William with a daughter Charlotte.
Whether or not we find anything about the two Williams, I am now fairly certain that William Snr is the son of Samuel Hartshorn, the brother of Robert Hartshorn.
I dont know your position as regards the checking of the necessary records but i feel that it must be done before we can proceed.
Please answer giving me an idea as to your ability to visit the Notts Record Office, I am in Notts so I might be able to help.
Regards Bill Wardle Notts
