Arlene - Are you still out there? I have worked the last 10 years on the Sarah and Burrell Bottoms process - Sarah Hartsfield was not the woman married to Burrell Bottoms - however, he did marry a Sarah - just NO evidence that she was a Hartsfield. However, I have LOADS of evidence on the family from 1795-today. I was able to gather/access some original letters (dated early 1820's), and travel to Camden to investigate the family. Burrell Bottoms died in 1800, he and Sarah lived in Bladen County, NC near Jockey Swamp. He was a chain carrier on a road building crew and is listed in the Bladen County NC records. After Burrell dies in 1800, she and her young family leave and move to Camden SC, where there is strong evidence that she owned a loom to provide for her family. She is listed in the 1810 census, and in the tax records for those who owned looms. Sarah and Burrell have the following 5 children (and there is evidence of all of this0: 1.John Bottoms, married to Nancy Marsh in Camden SC., 2.) Martha Patsey Bottoms, married to Thomas Jefferson Watson, lived in Sumter County, SC, her family moved to GA then made it all the way to Texas (I have been at there gravesites!), 3.) Nancy Bottoms, married to Elvey Lewis - moved and settled in Barbour County, AL., 4.) James Madison Bottoms, married Elizabeth Lockhart in 1821, Jones Co., GA, and then in 1840 married Eliza McElroy Hartsfield (this is where the Hartsfield's connect, in Pike County GA. A fifth child, Frances, is born righ after Burrell died. Frances is found in brother John's home, and is married in GA - I loose her line in the 1840's. All of the other children I can follow through to today. SO..I have 100% proof of 90% of this, and good evidence to consider the remainder of the data as "good". There is NO evidence that Sarah Bottoms' maiden name was Hartsfield, and there is absolutely no evidence for the following sons: Davis, Richard, Robert, or Parker - all of these children belong to the John Bottoms family who migrated from Ireland and lived in Pickens County SC. Parker Bottoms and son Noel, are well researched and are not related to Burrell Bottoms in any way. Good luck with your research! Jewel Notify Administrator about this message?
