I know I'm a little late to the conversation, but I find this posting very interesting. I have been tracing my Murphy lineage... Today I found an 1860 Randolph County, Alabama census for Martin S Murphy who I believe to be the Martin Sims Murphy I have been trying find information for. The census says his parents are Jeremiah Murphey and Haskey, both born in Georgia. On US Gen Web, there is a listing from the Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery (Randolph, Alabama) for the daughter of Jeremiah MURPHEY and Haskey HARTFIELD, Ella Nora Murphey Stevens. After finding this, I was trying to find more information on the Hartfields from Georgia, which led me to this posting. There are a lot of similarities in names at the very least. Two interesting things to note: The Martin Sims Murphy I have been tracking was married twice. Also, there are Sims that married into the family that I believe came from John D. Sims, born 1802 in Virginia. In summary, I am most intrigued by the sentence from the posting, "Some say that a Haskey Sims who married a Jeremiah Murphy could be a child of Martin Sims and Elizabeth Hartsfield." Could you provide more information on this? I wonder if the Haskey in the census is really Haskey Sims instead of Haskey Hartfield? Thank you!! Notify Administrator about this message?
