Early records: Johnston County North Carolina- Court Minutes
1769- "Ordered that William McElroy, Mark Sims and Avington McElroy be appointed patrolers from Falls of Neuse (River) to Walnut Creek, including Joel Lanes and Abram Hill's plantation from thence to the mouth of Walnut and Crab Tree Creeks."
William Sims- Johnston county, North Carolina 1762-
Court Minutes- "Ordered that William McElroy, orphan of John McElroy be bound to William Sims also that William Sims
be apointed guardian to the said orphan and that William McElroy be security in the sum of one hundred pounds."
It is said that Wiley Sims family came to Virginia from Ireland and settled in North Carolina. When, I don't know.
These are connected thru William McElroy and Ghaskey, my ancestor. I have the "McElroy" Books (bigger than New York Telephone books) and boy are they hard to follow. My ancestory was James McElroy-1761 who married three times and had about 18 children- Do you have this information? If not let me know and I will send it to you. I am just now getting all this into the World Family tree. The Wiley Sims who married to Mary Hartsfield was son of Charles Sims and Esther Murry.
