Thank you very much Eric. I have the information that you posted. I'm hoping I can find probate records for Martin Sims and his second wife, Margaret Scroggen in Pike County, GA. I have found several records for Martin's son, Carroll Martin Sims, who was a teacher in Chambers, Alabama. I also found his daughter, Elizabeth Sims, who married David Hightower. My Great Great Grandfather Wiley H. Sims is well documented from his marriage in 1841 to Virginia Jeffersonia Sterling in Troup County, Georgia. By typing in Culpepper Connections with your search engine, you can find the data we have found on Wiley H. Sims. He was born in 1811 with census records 1850, 1860 and 1870 to back up his birth year. At first we did think he was the son of Wiley Henry Sims and Mary Hartsfield, but he does not appear in the probate records of either individual in Oglethorpe County. Our problem was trying to trace our Wiley to Troup County. Martin Sims relocates from Oglethorpe County to Pike County and then remarries in Troup County. Not only that, but he married a Hartsfield which explains why the Hartsfield name is so prevelant in our family history. My own Great Grandfather's name was Jefferson Hartsfield Sims. I have Bible records with those facts or I wouldn't have gotten past my Grandfather James Wiley Sims who was born in Oklahoma. I haven't been able to gather too much on Jefferson Hartsfield Sims other than a newspaper article and census records, but I haven't given up the research. I do know that Martin Sims came to Pike County with his brother Mark Sims. I have no information on Mark Sims at all. Do you? Allen Sims who married Temperance Hartsfield also came to both Troup and Pike Counties. He is also in Barbour County, Alabama buying land. Allen Sims does not have a lot documented on him. Does the Hartsfield book have information on him? I have the basics, but there are a lot of Jane Does and John Does for children. In the Troup deed records, there are several transactions with a David T. Sims, a John Sims and a James Sims. Those are mystery Sims to me. I am trying to unravel all the children for Mark and Martin. Some say that a Haskey Sims who married a Jeremiah Murphy could be a child of Martin Sims and Elizabeth Hartsfield. She marries about the year that a child of Martin's would plus she seems to fit into some of the slots I have for the 1830 and 1840 censuses for Pike County. I believe, if my memory serves me right that Haskey Hartsfield was Elizabeth's sister. I know that both Mary and Temperance were. At this point in my research, I am basically trying to pin down the documentation that would prove who Wiley H. Sims' parents are. The names, Wiley and Hartsfield, are repeated numerous times in our family history. I appreciate your feedback. I have seen your name numerous times on different forums and thank you for your assistance. Hope you have a great weekend! Corine
