I am trying to fill out my father's line, and I have very little information. His father was Erskin Noel Hartsfield, born June 30, 1908 and died Aug. 17, 1957.
Erskin's parents were supposedly Lonnie Melvin Hartsfield and Cora. (Erskin's widow says that Cora's name was Cora Wincia Bell from GA. Cora was born 3/16/1890 in GA, according to my grandmother, and died 3/1976 in Arab, Marshall County, Alabama.) I do not have a birth date for Lonnie, nor a marriage date for his marriage to Cora.
The family data is VERY sketchy, I know. Did Erskin have siblings? I've found a couple of other Lonnie Hartsfields in other states but have not found a connection. (There was a Clive Noel Hartsfield born in 1895 in Texas, and the middle name "Noel" is something of a family tradition in that line of our family since Erskin Noel, but I don't have a connection between them.)
I do know that Erskin was a long-distance truck driver and lived in at least Alabama and Texas.
I would appreciate any information that someone might know.
I've looked back in the archives and found a reference to an out-of-print book, "The Hartsfields of America", so I will also see if maybe a local library has a copy.
