Does anyone have more information about Sam's aviation career?
Samuel Edward Hartsfield, Jr., son of Samuel Edward Hartsfield and Elizabeth Bennett Cox, born 25 March 1904, died 19 February 1963, St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Davidson County, TN, buried Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nashville, TN, married Margaret Claire Hosse on 16 November 1928, born 6 November 1909, died November 1985, Williamson County, TN, buried Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nashville, TN, and had a child per R. H. Jackson.
On the back of a photo of him as a sailor, it shows: Sam Hartsfield lied abut his age and flew in World War I. After he returned he joined the U. S. Navy and taught Naval pilots then helped train the "Flying Tigers:. Later he helped lay out airfields for the Burma, India, China Supply Route. Helped design night bombsight for WWII American Bombers. Also barnstormed and flew the first airmail route's in Tennessee. He loved flying.
