My GGGreatfather was George W. Hartsell (1828-1905).
Jacob Hartsell (1839- ?), according to my father, is not related to "us". Don't get excited, He's been wrong before.
In "History of Preston County WV." published in 1913, the two men are not connected and their fathers names are not listed.
The same book did not mention Jacobs' wifes maiden name, thanks.
These two men represent the only two 'clans' of Hartsell's in this county. I have always believed that there had to be a connection, but have yet to find it. Perhaps we should get our heads together.
