Well, you've certainly tried to get the lion by the tail for a long time, haven't you?

It never occurred to me that "IA" would represent Indiana but I surely believe that you are correct. Lesson learned for me.

I have been able to figure out most of the Hartleys in Miami County, Ohio. As I'd mentioned, my group came from today's West Virginia. There's also a Dr. Charles A Hartley, who was born in Pennsylvania. I haven't seen any Hartleys in Montgomery County, Ohio that are in the timeframe of the 1800s that I'm looking at.

I fully understand the frustration of trying to find the parents of someone but have no success. That's why I post messages like these, hoping that someone out there has run across my line before and who might have info to share.
