Hello everyone
I am a new member
After researching my tree I discovered that my Grandfather Maurice was born out of wedlock (tut tut)
My Grandmother was Amelia Michie b 1864 in Sheffield a daughter of Robert Michie and Matilda Foulds.
Amelia gave birth to Maurice (Morris) Michie in 1881, and there is no father shown on his birth certificate.
She married a William Walter Hartley b Sheffield 1963.
Maurice's marriage certificate 1906 to Annie Elizabeth Hayter b Sheffield 1886 shows him as Maurice Michie Hartley,but still shows "no named father".
I cannot find a William Walter Hartley anywhere, and would be really grateful if anyone out there can help.
I feel sure that this man is not my biological Gt.Grandfather, and I probably will never solve the mystery, but I would like to put a family to this man who brought up my Grandfather.
