James Hartley born abt 1766 in Snow Hill Maryland and died 25 Sep 1851 Franklin, Washington, Indiana. He married Mary Anna McCrary 1787 in Virginia. They had a number of children including John.Mary Anna McCrary is the daughter of Joseph McCrary and Anna Powell.
James Hartley is the son of:
James Richard Hartley born 1735 England and Mary Elizabeth Beckett. James Richard died 24 Feb 1783 Frederick County, Virginia. He married Mary Elizabeth 1759 in Frederick County, Virginia. She died 24 Feb 1837 Caldwell County, North Carolina. I find no record of another marriage for her after James Richard died. There are a total of 14 children from this union including James.
According to several researchers, including myself, Waightstill Hartley and Mary Margaret Hodges are the parents of James Richard.
