Hi Kathleen, Thanks for your thoughts on the subject of Anne HARTLEY. I got the baptism info from the micro fiche transcripts of the Oxfordshire Family History Society. One Ann was baptised on 23 Feb 1778, daughter of John & Ann, and the other was baptised on 3 April 1787, daughter of John & Elizabeth. There is a discrepency regarding the age of Ann when she died in April 1855, when her age was given as 81, indicating a birth year of 1774. Her husband died the same month age 68, hence a birth year of 1787....approximately 13 years Ann's junior. The 1851 census shows James as 62 and Ann as 75, which changes their birth years to 1789 and 1776. The 1841 census does not help as both ages were rounded +/-to 50 and 60. If the 1851 census age is correct for Ann, then a birth year of 1776 would be fine, as her next older sibling, Mary, was baptised in 1775, and the next younger baptised in 1780. If her death age was correct, giving a birth year of 1774, then I find it hard to understand why the parents would baptise Mary in 1775 and not baptised Ann at the same time....if you follow my drift, especially as it was probably as cheap to do two at once.
