Thank you for your timely response. It may be possible that James Hartigan is related to my Margaret Hartigan. There are few Hartigans listed for Minnesota, however Sibley County is abour 130 miles from Wabasha County if I have scaled it right on the map and it seems unlikely that they would be separated by a four or five day buggy ride through the country. But who knows? I am beginning to think she may have been living with a family of a different name, as there were few if any Hartigans in Wabasha County, MN in the 1860s and 1870s.
