Nancy Hargraves from Crawford Co, AR married Henry Prescott?
Any information on Hartgraves in Crawford County, Arkansas in the 1840's-1860's would be greatly appreciated. A researcher told me that my gg-grandfather Henry was married to Nancy Hartgraves and had two sons with her named William Henry (1863) and Edward Lee (1867). I can't find any evidence that Henry was married to Nancy but I do find Henry living in a Hartgraves home in one of the censuses.
By 1870, Henry is living in Denton County, Texas and is married to Anne Shannon and they had George Washington Prescott in 1874, my great-grandfather. It appears that several families made their way to Denton County from Crawford County, Arkansas.
I'm trying to find evidence of a marriage between Henry and Nancy and also find out how she died.Descendants of William Henry believed that Anne was their ancestor, but their version of how Anne died is very different from the story in my family. Their story involves an Indian abduction. They believe that Henry's wife was part Indian and that she was either kidnapped or simply ran off with her tribe. It makes sense that both stories could be true if Henry had children with two different wives.
I would love to connect with any long lost cousins and trade information. Thanks.
