Are you familiar with "The Butterfly Effect" ?
One person can make a difference! I think we should all work together to stop this practice as you say of "Ancetry Thift".
I know I have had it happen to me. One guy in particular is ( on the websight you refer to) sending me almost daily new fictitious family connection, that sight says "sounds like my be a connection", I have told him not to but without success. I wonder if I report it as abuse if the web- masters would stop him. I have hesitated because I have already made so many people mad trying to tell them the truth, I don't want any more enemys, and he is realy related to me.
I think if a lot of "butterflies" get together we can have an effect. And I think "ANCETRY THIFT" is a good name for the movement.
