Susan is right. The name Harsha was spelled various ways in the early 1800s; Harshe was one of them. However, there are other families with the name Harshe so one has to always be careful. I have traced down Harshas in Ohio only to find out that they were really Hersheys.

In Ohio in the 1800s I know of Harshas from two different Scotch-Irish families from Pennsylvania, one Scotch-Irish family from upstate New York, and some unconnected families of German descent who used the spelling, Harsha. All that in addition to the Hersheys mentioned above.

Can you provide us with some dates for David and the other names you mentioned. I have some names that are similar to the ones you mentioned but the dates may be wrong. Also, what is the full title and author of the Binkley/Harshe book you mentioned?
