I have a Louisa Walls (dtr of Rev James Walls) of Winchester,Frederick, Virginia who marriad Jonathan Harry on 2 Feb 1814 in Frederick Co, Virginia. Does anybody know if they had any children.
From ABASTRACTS OF WILLS OF WINCHESTER, vIRGINIA 1794-1894 in Will Book 2, (1824-1874) Pages 1-4 shows the appraisement of the estate of JONATHAN HARRY,dec'd. Among items: Notes of Hand signed by DANIEL GOLD and LEWIS HOFF,magogany burrow, 1 falling leave table, 2 bibles. Signed : CONRAD KREMER, L.H.WICKHAM, JOHN LAUCK. Estate sale and appraisement recorded 2 Apr 1824.
On pges 8-9 in the same book is Estate of JONATHAN HARRY, dec'd. among item are amounts due "to boarding of the deceased,26 jul1821-5 Aug 1822, &70: due to wasing and mending from 1 apr 1819-5 Aug 1822, $50. JAMES HARRY settled the estate account of JONATHAN HARRY, 17 aug 1824, recorded 3 sep 1824.
Also in a book WHAT I KNOW ABOUT WINCHESTER by William Greenway Russel on pg 109 states. JAMES HARRY, a native of Pennsylvania who came here many years ago, also, his 3 brothers, BENAJAMIN, JOSEPH & JONATHAN. Joseph was a coppersmith; the others were stone and brick mason and there were no better in town. Mr James Harry had 1 son James, and several daughters:Mrs. John Hoover, Mrs Sprint of Millwood, Mrs Calvert, Mrs J Reed and Mrs J Diffenderfer. Mr Diffenderfer came from Martinburg some 40 years ago.
This is what is recorded in the Winchester Co., Virginia about these Harry brothers. Does anyone know where they came from in Pennsylvania to Virginia. Thanks for your help. Cathy Fair Clarine
