From Rootsweb Message Boards, Washington County, Missouri Author: Roy Harrison ( now deceased and a distant relative to us ) Nov. 1, 1998 Washington County Connections: Descendents of Captain Benjamin Harrison William Benjamin Hugh Batteal James John Lawrence Andrew Mary Margaret I am SEARCHING for the parents of a John Harrison, born in 1811 KY or 1815 MO. He gives both on different census years, which is the same line that Roy was researching. John had sons named George W., Michael, David, William Henry and I have lost the first three names after the 1860 Randolph County, Arkansas census. I've lost John after 1864. Don't know if the Civil War took a toll on the family. William Henry came to Missouri and fought on the Union side and survived, the others on the Confederates. I have also come across a Benjamin Harrison that married in 1808 in St. Genevieve District in Missouri. The spouse was a Stevenson, daughter of Marcus Stevenson and a Hinkson maiden name mother. In reading Roy's messages, he seems certain that the Benjamin Harrison that may have been our John's father was also kin to the President's Harrison. There was also a Benjamin Harrison that was part of a survey crew designated the task of surveying much of the New Madrid Territory. Hinkson is also part of that crew. Hope some of this helps. If you can help me, please contact. Also, there is a book, Settlers by the Long Grey Trail, which is one of many books that can be accessed on Ancestry if you are a member.
