Hello all,
I am trying to make connections concerning a John Harris who is found in early (1780's) records in Duplin and Sampson Co., North Carolina. I have seen postings all over the web stating that this John was the father of Benjamin Harris who married Bethena Odom and relocated first to S. C. and later to Georgia. My husband descends from Willis David Harris who was born in Georgia and lived there and also in Alabama. I personally have not been able to find any documentation that Willis was the son of Joseph and Frances Harris, or that Joseph was a son of Benjamin.
I did find a book detailing the lineage of a Robert Hamilton Harris. In the book, this Robert is said to have been the son of Bennet Harris. Further Bennet is said to have been the son of Benjamin Harris and his wife Bethena. In these same writings Benjamin is said to be the son of a John Harris who was born in Virginia, but relocated to Sampson Co., North Carolina where he lived out his life.
Is there anyone out there who has found documentation concerning the parentage of Benjamin, Joseph, or Willis David Harris? Anyone who can point me in a direction to put this family together? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
