There would be nothing in the book about Capt Thomas Harris or
his son Major William Harris since that is a completely different line from those in the book from Isle of Wight Co.
I am not aware of any discoveries about the origins of Capt
Thomas Harris but there is ongoing research into his roots in
England. For many years he was claimed to be the son of Sir
William Harris of Crixsea, but the discovery of Sir William's
son Thomas' death and probate in England in 1617 disproved that theory. Presently we are trying to locate a living male Harris descendant of Sir William to obtain a DNA sample, but
since that peerage is dormant, there may not be any living male Harris from that line to compare the DNA to those in the
US that claim descent from Sir William.
