"Stephanie Catherine Poole, 49, of Bly, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at her residence. She was born Dec. 3, 1952 in Ashland at the old Siskiyou Lodge during a snowstorm to Flora Catherine Northcutt and Stephen Thomas Harris. She grew up in Central Point, attended local schools through her junior year of high school before her family moved to Keno in 1969. In 1971, she graduated from Henley High School. Following graduation, she moved briefly to Portland before returning to Klamath County where she worked for Kings Security as a guard for several local lumber companies. She met James Carlon Poole while working security at Weyerhaeuser Lumber. They married Dec. 1, 1974 at her parent's residence in Keno. She worked several other jobs including a home daycare center for about four years before securing a position with the US Forest Service as a Silviculturist in Lakeview and Klamath counties. She enjoyed the vocation for about 14 years before being diagnosed with terminal cancer. She especially enjoyed being out-of-doors, fishing, hunting and gardening. In addition to tending flowers, she enjoyed growing an annual vegetable garden. She was an excellent cook who prepared wonderful lasagna, canned produce from her garden and made syrups, jellies and pies from fresh berries. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, needlepoint, working crossword puzzels and pinochle. She like horseback riding and barrel racing. She also enjoyed working on ceramic and pottery projects as well as listening to revival music. She was an active volunteer in her community. She helped with Little League, cooking for the elderly in Bly and caring for children as the "Town Mom." She was also a substitute cook for Gearhart School and former member of the Eagle's Lodge in Lakeview and attended the Faith Assembly of God Church in Bly. She was preceded in death by her grandson, James Cayden Poole. Survivors include, husband, James Carlon Poole, of Bly; children and spouses, Judy and Brian Howard, of Vancouver, Wash., Emily Gouge and Tyson Poole, of Corvallis, and Jamie Rena Poole, of Bly; parents, Flo and Steve Harris, of Sprague River; brothers and sisters-in-law, Van and Tammy Harris, of Klamath Falls, Tom and Stephanie Harris, of Roseburg, and Diane and Bill VanDusen, of Dairy; and three grandchildren. Memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Bly. Notify Administrator about this message?
