My ancestor Harrington is Louraney Harrington Dobbs d/o Catherine Harrington widow of a RS. I found some tax records in the 1830's for Harris Co.,Ga. Catherine owned land there with her son Cyrus and daughter Louraney and Samuel Dobbs. There also was a Drury Harrington that was on Harris Co.tax rolls about that time. (Drury's connection is not known but he may have been a son)See deeds below.

I found some deeds in the Ga. Archives for Franklin Co.Ga.
(1) a "deed of gift" of a slave from Thomas Harrington to named son Drury in Franklin County, Ga. in 1795.
(2) a 1795 deed of sale for 535 acres Franklin Co.,Ga. that had been granted to Thomas Harrington by George Walton (Governor?) in 1789. Deed names "Caty", his wife.(Maybe
Catherine?)
(3) a deed of sale 24 Nov 1806 from John Harrington in Livinston Co., Ky thru his agent Thomas Harrington for 287.5 acres in Franklin Co,Ga. that had been granted to John Harrington for his "service in the war".Some Harrington family researchers think these 2 were brothers.
The 1820 Livingston Co.Ky lists John Harrington and Drury Harrington. I think that this connection might be our best shot at sorting out the answers. I wonder if there has been any DNA back to John or Drury?

You are right about paper trails but they can be wrong too.
Death certificates, marrigage license, census all have errors. Bible records are good if you know who posted the information in them. I have copies of my family bibles but there are entries with different hand writing and some conflicting names and dates.
