Looking for decendants of Benjamin Harrington who lived in New Lisbon, Otsego Co., NY approx. 1810- 1830. Benjamin (b. 1772) was from Foster, RI the son of Josiah Harrington. He married Lydia Sweet of RI. They had the following sons: Angel (b. 1798), Josiah F.(b.1805), Benjamin, and Clark. They also had daughters Margaret, Lydia, Mercy, Polly, Sarah Ann.
Sons Angel and Josiah F. went to Warrick Co., Indiana with their families in the 1830s. Many of these Harrington moved on to Audubon Co., Iowa, Cripple Creek and Denver, Colorado, and Yakima, Washington. Family records show that Benjamin Sr. and his sons Benjamin and Clark moved to the Cleveland,Ohio area and later died there. I have records for only one of the daughters, Margaret, who married Stephen Bowdish and moved to Indiana.
Other surnames connected with these Harrington are Bowdish, Cummings, and Detar. Additional Harrington family members are John, Hyram, Isaac, Henry, Arlington, Alvah, Thaddeus Benjamin Franklin, Remus, Charles M., Glen, and possibly Solomon B.
I have not had much luck with finding this Harrington family in Ohio and hope that someone can help me make a connection. I find a Clark and a Benjamin in Ashtabula Co., Ohio in the 1850 thru 1870 census. Info I have found on this Benjamin would indicate he is not of my family. I cannot find any additional info on this Clark. His son Solomon B. continued to live here as did his grandson William T through the 1930 census. I really think this is the Clark I'm looking for but I need more info on him.
I have gathered quite a bit of info on Benjamin's decendants over the years but still have some dead ends I would like to finish. If anyone thinks this sounds like their family I would be interested in hearing from them.
