Kim,
Charles Gideon was a cobbler and was my great great grandfather (I got a picture of him).He was, as I remember, a son of the original George who emigrated from Ireland with his Mom (Mary) and stepfather (Henry Cowden).
Charles had about 6 kids with Maggie Dix from 1876 to about 1884.The last few were born in Loudon as they had come back from Missouri.James, George, Henry/Mary and whoever else had staked a lead mine claim in Iron Mountain when the Civil War started getting hot and heavy in Loudon County.
Anyway, in the early 80's they were back in Virginia with kids in tow including my great grandfather William (1878-1937).Eventually, they made it to Alexandria where most of them made their living on the railroad.
Lots of Harringtons stayed in Missouri.I have a history
of St Francois County and there are many Harrington names that pop up.Also, I have been to Iron Mountain and wouldn't you know there is a road out in the middle of no where (the side of a mountain) named "Harrington Road".
Hope that starts us off to weaving this family picture
Jim
