Dear Tony
I have been to Ireland looking for my roots. All the counties have a genealogy. office to help trace your roots. They are on computer and for a fee of about $20 they will put you in their system and will help you locate your family's roots. They were very helpful to me.I was not looking for Harringtons but Harts. My Harringtons come from my husbands side and it looks like they come from the English side of the Irish Sea.However, as you probably know most of the Irish Harringtons come from Cork.If you know your relatives birthdate it is most helpful. If you write to the Gen office at County Cork and give them that info and then ask what you need to provide them to help you trace your roots I think you will find them most helpful. You can probably get their address off the net.Hope this helps. My Irish roots are in County Sligo. My greatgrandfather immigrated in 1872. On my first trip to Ireland the feeling of belonging there was absolutely beyond expression.I could have sworn my greatgrandfather was standing next to me as I stood on the dock in Sligo where he got his last view of his homeland and was telling me he was glad I brought him home in my spirit. It may sound corney but hey I'm Irish! If you get a chance you must try and go there it is the most beautiful county in all of the world.
