I aquired the following information from the Cartmel Priory Heritage Committee, Cumbria, England:
The Harrington family take their surname from their place of origin, the village of Harrington on the Cumbrian coast, England. The original form of this Norse place-name was probably Haefringtun, later modified into the now familiar spellings of Harrington or Harington. Hope this helps.I have a new website, which I have just started adding information to.There's a bit more information there : www.philharrington.co.uk
