Hi Gareth,

No relation, but worked on a lookup for you on the US records. I picked up your query on the KANSAS site but thought it would be best to post my reply under the family name so others searching this family group would also find the info.

I found George H. Harries and his wife Annie/Anna with their children on the following census years:

1900 Kansas, Shawnee County, Topeka twp..
Annie states 8 children born/8 alive.

1910 Kansas, Shawnee County, Topeka twp
*This entry is strange. Only George H. Harries 49 bn England/father Wales/mother Wales, married once 25yrs...is listed. No wife or children? He is the last entry on a half filled page. The census taker may have left off the other family members??? George is listed as a Merchant for Feed & Seed.

1920 Nebraska, Morrill County, Eastwood twp
George & family are listed here. All kids born in Kansas except the last child, Frank P. Harries, 6yrs bn Canada
...maybe this is why I couldnt find them on the 1910 census???? They have 5 more children on this one. 4 born in Kansas, last one in Canada. Several of their older married children are also living in Neb, Morrill County.

1930 California, Los Angeles County, Los Angeles City
George H., Annie & son Frank 16 bn Canada are living in the same household.

If you would like the complete census entries, just let me know. Sometimes giving the next generation down info will help you connect with others working on the same line.

George & wife Annie M. died in California as did several of the children:

*This appears to be your George H. Harries...on the 1900 census he states born Apr 1861......but the mother's maiden name does not match your data. Could Davies have been a previous married name for her? Or could this be his step mothers maiden name and thats what he always remembered?

Birth Date: 31 Jan 1885
married, wife Jennie
signed: sept 1918
***I believe this is an error on the birth year for this record. Should be 1895. On the 1920 NE, Morrill County, Broadwater twp is:
William A. Harries 25 bn KS,father Engl, mother PA
Jennie 23 bn Ireland, wife
George S. 2yrs & 10 months bn Canada.
This is a year of birth match for the son of George H. & Annie Harries...William's wife is the same name as on the WW1 registration, same residence location. Notice their son was born in Canada......This whole Harries family group was in Canada for a time between 1914 to 1917!

Hope works out to be the family you are looking for and is of help,
Marsha
