Any 18th century orphans? Haralson children adopted out?
Thanks to Steven and his fabulous family DNA project, I have finally found a place to try to get beyond a brick wall that has completely blocked our lineage search.Yes, our last name is Walker and has been since (probably) some time in the 1700's, however my brother's 37 marker DNA test matches perfectly with some of the more famous participants on this forum, namely Buddy, Danny, and Steven!I apologize for leaving out the rest--right now I can't remember your names.
I have not been able to find any link beyond our great-great grandfather, Mordica (sp) James Walker, b. 1805 somewhere in Georgia. His first marriage was to a 12 or 13 year old named Elizabeth Alice Sweatman, also from Georgia.
Until very recently we had NO Walker connection, but now have a 12 marker match with Walker's who can be traced to Screven County, GA at some point in the mid 1800's.
Is it possible that two Haralson siblings were adopted or taken in/cared for by a family named Walker?
Can anyone here help us find the missing link?
