Katherine,
I think the Seth Harrell who married Cynthia Algee is a different from mine. Here's all the information I have on my Seth.
I think the Seth Harrell who married Cynthia Algee is a different from mine. Here's all the information I have on my Seth.Seth Graves Harrell was born 23 Mar 1802 in
North Carolina.I have Surry County written down as his birthplace, but I didn't write down the source for that. His father was Josiah Harrell and his mother was Sarah Harrel (one l, not two l's), married 17 Sep
1778 in Bertie County, North Carolina.Josiah was born in Virginia in 1760 or 1761.On the 1820 census for Maury County, Tennessee, Josiah age 59 is listed with Sarah age 46, one male age 18-26 (probably Seth), and one male under age 10.A Peter Harrell is listed as another head of household on the 1820 census, but I haven't investigated yet.

Seth married Mourning Desdemona Daggett in 1830 in Maury County, Tennessee.Seth's first child, Sarah Francis, was born in 1821 or 1828.Not sure what that might mean. His first two children, Sarah Francis and Joseph R., were born in Maury County, Tennessee.
The next nine were born in Marion County, Alabama. The 1850 Federal Census of Alabama
has him in Marion County, Alabama.Sarah Francis is no longer living with him, but his mother Sarah is living with him.He is also on the 1860 census of Alabama.

In 1825, Josiah Harrell deeded 203 acres to Seth and his brother Peter in Maury County, Tennessee.Their names are spelled Herald and Herrald in the deed. The reference on the deed is:

Around 1854, Seth became a Methodist lay preacher.I was told that the Methodist colleges have information on preachers, but I haven't contacted one to find out.Seth and Mourning were in Indian Territory by 1877.
He was a minister for the Choctaws 1877-1882.He died 26 May 1889 in LeFlore County, Oklahoma. The chapel where he preached is still there and is a storage shed.It was still in use in the 1930's.It is mentioned in the book, "The Proud Heritage of LeFlore County" on pages 96, 175-177.The book is out of print, so you may need to contact an Oklahoma library to get copies.I have a copy of my cousin's copy.

The only information I have on his siblings is Peter from the land deed and possibly the 1820 census and Issac, born 1790-1800, from the web.Issac is the father of V.B. Harrell.
