Looking for the up line of George W. Harrell, b. abt 1814 in North Carolina. George is in Sumter Co., Alabama by 1840 as evidenced by the 1840 US Census, Sumter Co., Alabama. According to the 1850 US Census, Decatur Co., Tennessee, George's oldest son, S. B. Harrell was born in Alabama. I assume this to be Sumter Co. The next son, Millsfre was b. abt 1843 in Perry Co., Tennessee. Part of Perry Co. became Decatur Co. in 1845.
There was also, in Decatur Co., TN, an Abraham Harrell b. 24 Jul 1793 in NC and died in Decatur Co. on 27 Jul 1877. His wife Rebecca b. 27 Oct 1800 in NC and died 16 Mar 1864 in Decatur Co. Rebecca is thought to be d/o Henry White and Hannah Rushing. Both Abraham and Rebecca are buried in Brigance Cemetery in Decatur Co., TN.
I thought that George was a son of Abraham at first, but he doesn't seem to fit age wise. Could be a younger brother or nephew. Any help will be appreciated.
