Hello Judy,
My husband is a direct descendant of William C. Leigh through his marriage with Amy Best. She died Dec. 25, 1838. William married Lucy Harrell. Two children (I believe they were both boys)came from this marriage. Could you provide BMD info on Lucy and her children by this marriage. I know these children inherited William's land at his death. Also, a daughter(Temperance)from William and Amy's union married a William Harrell. Through a search on the internet I found a document which was a Petition For Dower:
Temperance Harrell
VS
J.H. Harrell, ET AL.
Filed in the Superior Court of Edgecombe County in July 1903.
I also found the will of Christopher Harrell, whome I believe to be Lucy's father. There is mention of a Lucy Leigh in this will as well as a Polly Leigh. I do not know who Polly Leigh might be.
In some of the info I have found on the Leigh line I'm researching there is mention of the Cherry name such as in William's mother Temperance Pippin's(2nd marriage)will. I see in Christopher Harrell's will the Cherry name mentioned.
I would appreciate any help you might offer. People from Edgecombe Co. Library and E-groups have been a help with some of my Leigh questions. And I am thankful for the kind help offered by you. Thank you, Sis Lee
