Robert: I am researching the Harrow family resident in Iowa beginning ca. 1843 and specifically the family of JOHN W. HARROW. John W. Harrow was said to have been born in Maryville (possibly Mayville) Kentucky in 1819. His obituary is as follows: "Obituary. John W. Harrow was born near Marysville, KY May 8th 1819 and died at his home north of Leon November 18, 1886, aged 67years, 6 months and 10 days. He was married to Sarah P. Gibson at Albia, Iowa, March 3d 1850. He resided in Decatur county some 33 years. Bro. Harrow united with the M.E. church at Fairfield in 1841, though for some reason he held no connection with the church in recent years. A widow and nine children survive him, three of whom were present when he died. He has been sick some 13 months though only bed-fast for a few days at last. He was buried by the writer from the Dunkard church, north east of Leon. C.L.N." John W. Harrow was resident in Decatur Co., Iowa in 1885 (IA State Census), 1880 (US Census), 1870 (US Census), in Ringgold Co., Iowa in 1860 (US Census), Decatur Co., Iowa in 1856 (IA State Census), Monroe Co., Iowa in 1852 (IA State Census) and 1850 (US Census). This John W. Harrow is likely the son of SAMUEL HARROW. Samuel Harrow was born in Kentucky ca. 1798 and migrated to Indiana and then to Iowa. He may have first settled in Jefferson Co., Iowa, and was resident in Monroe Co., Iowa in 1850 (US Census), 1852 (IA State Census) and in Leon, Decatur Co., Iowa in 1856 (IA State Census), 1860 (US Census) and 1870 (US Census). Do you know of any relationship between Samuel Harrow and the Charles Harrow you include in your genealogy that settled in Wapello Co., Iowa. I have noted the similar migration path of your Charles Harrow to the Samuel I believe is John's father. I am interested in how the Iowa Harrow's relate to each other. I would be more than willing to share the information I have on my Iowa Harrow's if it us interest to you. EJ Curnes Notify Administrator about this message?
