You are referring to the Daniel Harrah whose birthdate is usually given as 1726 (probably a guess from the Osborn family research begun back in the 1930's). He and his wife Elizabeth were in Augusta Co., Virginia, then Greenbrier Co, Va (Wva) and then he died in Clark Co. KY in 1795. He had numerous sons and daughters and his progeny constitute most of the Harrahs of West Virginia and Indiana and Missouri.

I have seen elsewhere that he was born in Antrim, Ireland but I have never seen any documentation of this. Having looked through original records in WVA and KY, there is no mention of Antrim.

Being able to place his county of Irish origin would be a major breakthrough. But I am afraid the Antrim origin may be from someone's imagination. Unfortunately, once published in even an e-mail, information like this takes on a life of its own and is passed on without reference to documentation.

If anyone out there has a real Irish lead please let us know.
