Rupert Johnston Lots 59-61 Concession 2 SDR

Rupert Johnston born May 13 1905, he was the third child of Robert Johnston and Margaret Henderson

On October 17 1928 wed Catherine Jane Herd. The wedding was solemnised at the Hanover Presbytarian Manse by Reverend G.G. Little.

They lived on the old Johnston farm which was located on Lots 54-56 Con 2 SDR. Part of this was purchased from his uncle Hinman and the part known as `the other place`was given to him by his parents as a wedding gift.

March 1958 they purchased the former John Grierson farm located on Lots 59-61 Con 2 SDR.

They farmed there until November 1975 when they retired and moved to Hanover.

The couple raised a family of six children: Robert Johnston who lives in Woodstock:Margaret Johnston (Mrs Joseph Harper) of Calgary, Alberta. Rose Marie Johnston (Mrs Howard Whittaker of Toronto)Thomas Johnston of Port Elgin, Catherine Johnston of Victoria, B.C. and Melville Johnston of Port Elgin.

Lot 60 Concession 2 SDR all the people who lived on that land from 1855 to 1975
