Hi, Ray,
I'm looking for information on Harpers who started in Virginia, moved to Georgia, and ended up on Sand Mountain outside Albertville, AL. The first Harper I have is Joseph, born c. 1700, married Susannah Malone; son George, born c. 1732, married Elizabeth Denton (had 5 (?) children); son John William Harper (Sr.), born c. 1760 VA., married Susannah North (4 known children); son Nathaniel Harper, born c. 1805 VA, married 1823 Susannah Stephens in Clarke Co., GA (2 known children); son John William "Buck" Harper, born GA c. 1828, married Sally Jarrett(?)(7 possible children); son George Washington "Tump" Harper b. Carroll Co., GA (?) October 1864-65, married 1884 Lettie T. A. Bobo.

Tump is my g-gf who settled on Sand Mountain and along with his in-laws helped to establish Bethany Baptist Church at High Point, AL. Two of Tump's older brothers (Marion and John William "Bose" Harper) were merchants in Arab in the late 1800's before moving to Walker/Winston County (Marion) and to Texas and Oklahoma (Bose).

If you have any information you're willing to share, please email me.

Thanks,
Susan
