Linda, you may be right about her death. However, LDS shows a Melissa Harney born May 7, 1857 in Nicholas County, KY, with parents Willoughby Harney and Mahala Herrington. My Melissa was born May 1857 in KY. Her grandson that I talked to today answered quickly about his grandmother's maiden name and spelled it correctly..although he is 76 he is still employed and seemed very healthy. He did not know what county but confirmed that both grandparents were born in KY. How accurate are the LDS records? They do state an actual birthday, not an estimate.
