Since I posted my message to you I have been sent some more info on my Harlins. They now seem less likely to connect with yours, but here's what I have found out. They all came from Swanscombe, Kent and also spelt their name ARLING. Remember my gtgtgrandmother Sarah Selina's name was spelt HARLIN on my gtgrandfather's birth certificate.
Sarah Selina ARLING daughter of James & Sarah ARLING baptised 12th September 1830.

Her brothers and sisters:

Thomas ARLING bapt 25th July 1819 son of James ARLING & Sarah PEAK
James ARLING bapt 5th Aug 1821 son of James & Sarah ARLING
William Henry ARLING bapt 10th Feb 1823 son of James & Sarah ARLING
Ann Coombes ARLING bapt 6th Jan 1825 son of James & Sarah ARLING
Richard ARLING bapt 30th July 1826 son of James & Sarah ARLING
Lucy ARLING bapt 16th Mar 1828 son of James & Sarah ARLING

The first 3 children appear to have been born before marriage as James ARLING married Sarah PEAK on the 23rd January 1823

Sarah ARLING was buried 20th December 1840 aged 38 and described as from Greenhithe (one of the villages that made up the parish of Swanscombe - Greenhithe later became its own parish).

Thomas ARLING married Eliza CHAMBERS 7th August 1842.

All this information comes from the Truflare microfiche so is not a transcript of the actual parish records just a list of names dates and events.
All the best. Enjoy your visit to the other Kiwi HARLINS. My branch is left behind here in UK!
