I would love to have your help! Looking for relatives of my GG-Grandfather, William Taylor Harley b.in Canada,abt.1856. My Grandma had a note that William was "born near Brantford, Ontario (or five miles from Niagara Falls?)" His parents were: William Hodgson Harley and Agness Lowden. The couple shows up in the 1851 England census & back again in 1861 census. William Taylor Harley is the only child born in Canada. (noted on my G-grandma's b-certificate, and the England censuses as "b. Canada, British subject". Wondering if they planned to settle in Canada and changed their mind, or were visiting, or ???. Wm is listed as Ship's draughtsman in later census, and Naval Architect on ggg's b-cert. Lots of Harley ship builders, naval captains, etc. I wonder if families were in Canada due to the War of 1812 or sim. His wife was Mary Elizabeth Harrison. The Harley, Lowden, Taylor, Hodgson and Harrison names are neighbors in UK censuses, and are all in Ontario from 1812 Cameron Rolls on. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
