Hi Evelyn,
Thanks very much for your response. Since I posted the message, I've discovered through Weakley Co. TN/Obion Co. TN records that my James Harl Hill's father's name was James and his grandfather's name was William. I believe from census and other records that they came from N.C. to Rutherford Co. TN. My James Harl Hill migrated before 1840 to Weakley Co., TN as did some of his siblings. Siblings of James Harl Hill were Joshua, Susan/Susanna, Elizabeth, and Mary. Susan/Susanna married John Warren. Elizabeth married Jared Finch. Mary married Unk. Fuller. There is a very good possibility that my Hills were connected to the line of William Hill, Secretary of State of N.C. for many years. There is some evidence that points in that direction, but no definite proof. There still could have been a connection in some way to the Harl/Harle line, I suppose, so I'll take your advice and check the Harl board. Thanks again for writing.
Brenda
