Harkins Family Tree DNA testing

We are attempting to do a Harkins DNA testing on to determine possible linkage to lines back to Hugh Harkins of South Carolina/Ireland. Two elderly cousins (both brothers) provided the DNA and are great-grandsons of Benjamin Austin Harkins. Benjamin Austin Harkins was the son of Thomas & Abigail Harkins. We know the family came out of Buncombe County, NC and into Union County, GA. A cousin has done extensive research and believes that Thomas is more than likely the son of Hugh Harkins who came into port in Charleston, South Carolina and ended up in the Pendleton District of SC. Currently we are under a HAWKINS research group, but I am hoping the DNA site lets us do our own group. So far, we have not matched any HARKIN or HARKINS at a 37 marker level...but did match a HARKIN (no "s") at the 25 marker level who lives in Great Britain. The surnames that are showing up at the 37 marker level right now are people with the names of Bissett, O'Brien, O'Byrne, Curry, and Adams.
If you are a direct male descendant of a Harkins (only direct male descendants with the Harkins surname SHOULD match). To find out more about the DNA testing, go to
