I'm trying to determine the parents of Mattie Birdsong Harkins (b. 1853 in Georgia). At age 17, she is living with James W. Harkins (b. 1819 originally from Fayette Co. and Coweta Co. Georgia)according to the Houston County, Texas 1870 Census. She is not listed in James W. Harkins household in the 1860 census so I don't know if he is her father or not. Mattie had a son, Rice M. Kennedy, who lived with Clyde (Harkins)Steed after Mattie died. The 1910 Angelina County, Texas Census lists the relationship to Clyde as "cousin". Does anyone have some Harkins family tree info that will help me out?
