Is it possible you know something about the descendants of James O. Haring? That would be terrific! He is the son of Betsey Bogert Haring and Peter David Haring, who are my husband's great-great grandparents. When Betsey died in 1890 and her will was proved, four children were named: Anna M. Onderdonk of Westwood, NJ; Samuel Bogert Haring of Tappan, NY; James O. Haring residing at Latham, Butler County, Kansas and Albert Zabriskie Haring of Demarest, NJ. Also named were grandchildren, my husband's deceased great grandfather's offspring. I have Betsey's will and James O. is not named in it, but when the will was probated all children have to be identified (and notified? - I would think so, in case they wanted to make a claim on the estate.)I have the dates and spouses of the whole line back to the immigrant ancestor, Jan Pieters Haring, but know only the bare fact that James O (and what does the O stand for?) was married to Jane Van Houten.
The information you give matches that which appears in the Zabriskie genealogy. The Durie genealogy mentions a Ralph Christie Durie, b 12 Apr 1857, mar 24 June 1880 at Larned, Kansas, to Mary Catherine Preston, b 9 Feb 1860 at Frederick, MD. After his mother died when he was 12 he then lived with half-sister Jane Van Houten Haring.
James O's mother Betsey made a beautiful quilt which is the pride and joy of the quilt collection of the Bergen County Historical Society.
I have more information which I could send you as an attachment if you like.
