Hello Bob,
Yes, you have it generally correct; Nicholas Hargrave of Wakefield, Yorkshire, England was not our ancestor, nor was he the ancestor of the 3 Richard Hargrave of Sowerby, nor was he the ancestor of Richard Hargrave, born 1616 Wakefield Parish, Yorkshire, England, the immigrant to Virginia in 1635.
Agnes Hargrave of Leeds, Yorkshire, England was not our ancestor, nor was she the widow of Nicholas Hargrave, nor was she the ancestor of the 3 Richard Hargrave of Sowerby, nor was she the ancestor of Richard Hargrave, born 1616 Wakefield Parish, Yorkshire, England.
The 3 Richard Hargrave of Sowerby, Yorkshire, England were not our ancestors, nor were they the ancestors of Richard Hargrave, born 1616 yorkshire, England. They were not the descendants of Nicholas Hargrave of Wakefield or Agnes Hargrave of Leeds.
Yes, your revised lineage would be correct, except that Augustine Hargrave did not have a middle name of Hunnicut, nor any middle name at all.
The Hunnicut connection was mis-interpreted by a long ago researcher who confused Augustine Hargrave with Augustine Hunnicut Jr. The true record is that Margaret Phillips 3rd husband was Augustine Hunnicut Jr., step-father of Mary Hodge, daughter of John Hodge Jr. and Margaret Phillips. It was Mary Hodge who married Bray Hargrave and one of their sons was named Augustine in honor of Mary Hodge's step-father Augustine Hunnicut Jr. and possibly in honor of our ancestor Augustine Hancock, father of Sarah Hancock, but the Hunnicut name was never used in the Hargrave line.
Sorry it took so long to respond to your message, but I was never notified that you had responded to my previous message.
Sincerely,
James E. Hargraves
