Raymond, From my scant info. about Bejamin's kids, Eliphalet doesn't appear. Perhaps his probate (or will), if there is one, may shed light on this. I checked Orcutt's History of Derby, CT, which doesn't give Eliphalet either. Benjamin's wife's sister (Comfort Harger) married an Eliphalet (Hotchkiss). Evidently, Benjamin's wife (Jehoadan) must have died, although I don't know when, because it is probably he who married Mary Harger in 1768 and had kids [I have not identified her yet]. There is certainly space for Eliphalet's birth since the last child of Benjamin and Jehoadan was b. 1762.
I have no idea who Benjamin's father was either.
As I mentioned before, I haven't traced the Tomlinson families too much, since my direct connection is in the second generation (Henry's daughter Margaret m. Jabez Harger).
There are no "Widows" pension records, but rather simply Rev. War Pension Records, which have been abstracted and published by Virgil White. Also, the originals area available at National Archives regional branches around the country and via LDS (Mormon) Family History Centers. You may also want to pick up a copy of the National Archives publication Military Service Records, A Select Catalog of N.A. Microfilm Publications (cost about $5), available from NARA (www.nara.gov).
Hope this is a little helpful.
