THE IRISH BRANCH OF THE HARFORDS CAME FROM SCANDINAVIA WITH OTHER FAMILIES DURING THE VIKING ERA AND SETTLED IN THE NORTHERN PART OF DUBLIN. THE AREA THEY SETTLED BECAME KNOWN AS FINGAL. THE NAME FINGAL MEANS FAIR STRANGER AND IS STILL THE OFFICIAL NAME FOR THE AREA TODAY.THERE IS STILL A LARGE CONCENTRATION OF THE FAMILY LIVING IN FINGAL AND IT IS SAID THAT IF YOU THREW A STONE IN THE AREA YOU COULD NOT HELP BUT HIT ONE. PERHAPS THIS IS A LINE OF ENQUIRY YOU COULD PERSUE.
