Stuck on John Hardy
I hope someone can give me a kick-start with my research efforts, because I'm stuck. I have a John Hardy (and there are about 200 hundred in the same time frame) born in 1829. He is my ggg-grandfather. Born in Alabama, but he moved with his family to Mississippi (Calhoun County - Hopewell Community) in the mid 1800s. He shows up in the 1860 Calhoun County Census. He was married to a Lucinda (possibly Brown, not sure). Children included Henry b. approx. 1850, James (my line) b. approx. 1852, Susan b. approx. 1854, Mary b. approx. 1856 and John born in MS approx. 1859.
My line continues through James (Jim, J.B) who married Elisa Cowsert. They had either 4 or 5 sons. (The given names and called names were different, so there is a little confusion on my part). The include James Elliot b. 1887 (or 1884 family was not sure) d. 1970, George, Robert Lee, Walter Roane and Landreth. (Landreth was killed in a submarine in WWI).
James Elliot married Elizabeth Naomi Bryant b. 1892 (called Oma). They had three daughters Pearl, Myrtle and Verlon, and one son James Elmo Hardy b. 1927 d. 1986.
Elmo married Mary Kathryn (Katherine) Carroll and had one son - James Lynn Hardy b. 1949 (my father).
As you can see, the info is spotty at best, but maybe someone has a link.
Thanks.
