Has anyone figured out who his parents were? I am researching former slaves who lived in Butts County, Ga. In 1860 Slave Schedule there is a Wm. W. Hardy in bordering Henry County. The regular 1860 census finds William is age 61 born abt. 1799 NC and wife Mary V. born Ga...children in the household were: Absolom O. 16 and Martha A. 14. In 1850 William and Mary were in Monroe County, Division 60,pgs. 39-40; William and Mary and children: Caroline 20, Pheraby 08, Absolom 07, Martha 05 and a Shaslot LOCKHART age 74 born NC about 1776 was also in the household. In the 1850 Monroe Co. Slave Schedule William is indexed as "William HARLEY". I found in a google search that William W. Hardy m. Mary V. Lockhart 26 Dec. 1821 on the Lincoln Co, Genweb. Also what I've found in 1850 Butts County was a Josiah HARDY born about 1790 NC, wife Mary born SC and dau. Susan born abt. 1830. He was also found in the Slave Schedule for the same county, but he is not there in 1860, but rather a Josiah Jr. is age 35 and is and does not own slaves. I feel the Butts, Henry and Jasper County Hardy's from NC are connected somehow, but can't figure out who Wm. W. Hardy was the son of. I do know from reading various posts and websites that he hasn't been found to be a brother of Josiah or Cornelius (slave owner in Jasper Co.)sons of Jesse Hardy. Any direction appreciated.
