If you are still researching Hugh, I would be interested to exchange additional information. Hugh was the son of Thomas Hardy, brother of John who moved to Canada after the war, Jean, William, Alexander, Thomas Jr., and David from which I trace my line to Licking Creek, Pa.
There is a posting concerning John Hardy that sttes that all of them were born in Ireland, but I am not sure about this. My records show that David was born in Juniata County, Pa in 1783. Would really like to know how the Hardy line got to this country and what ship Thomas arrived on and who was his wife.
