Your Hardy family is very close geographically to mine. Have you ever run into a John C. (Maybe Clarence) Hardy, born 1859 according to his tombstone? He usually gave place of birth as Alabama on census reports. A few places it is listed as Georgia. He married in Dade County, GA (due east of Jackson Co, AL) to Sally Roach. They were in Marion County, TN (due north of Jackson Co and Dade Co) by the 1880 census. John C. Hardy died here in Marion County in 1932. Family names are Nancy, Henry, John, Pat (maybe Patrick) Lizzie/Elizabeth, Mary.
